What is Morton and what is it for?

Morton is the clinical decision support system (CDSS) that writes the note for each anesthesia case from the data you enter.

What exactly does it do?

In Morton, you document the clinical case by filling out forms in the same order as a medical history. With that data, Morton writes the prenote: a complete, well-organized note. It doesn’t just gather your information: it adds the analysis and the plan it generates from it. There’s one prenote per phase: pre-anesthetic, intraoperative, and postoperative. You review it, edit it if needed, and copy it into your institution’s medical record.

Each case has a codex: the number Morton assigns to it, without asking for sensitive data that could identify the patient. The case stays in your history, and you can pick it up again or continue it in another phase.

In Morton, you can report events and complications, request consultations, record diagnostic test results with their interpretation, write procedure notes, and put medical orders in writing.

And beyond cases, you’ll find guidelines and protocols, plus anesthesia-related scores and calculations.

The content is validated by our medical leadership, backed by references, and continuously updated. Morton does the writing; the clinical decision is yours.

When do I use it?

  • You’re documenting a complete case, phase by phase, with its analysis, plan, protocols, events, and complications.
  • You save common cases as templates and share them with your team to speed up care.
  • You use Morton only to document procedure notes or diagnostic test results with their interpretation, without an associated case.
  • You need an anesthesia-related calculation or want to check a guideline or protocol.

When does it NOT apply?

  • Morton isn’t a chat or a conversational assistant: you fill out forms with the case information.
  • Morton doesn’t diagnose or detect conditions for you: it documents the ones you’ve already identified.
  • Morton doesn’t write without data: an incomplete form produces an incomplete note.
